About us

The Scientific Department of Marat Ospanov West Kazakhstan Medical University provides comprehensive support for the development of the University’s research activities. The Department assists academic staff in achieving significant research outcomes and increasing publication performance, as well as ensures information support for scientific research.

Our Mission

Our mission is to stimulate and support the University’s scientific activities by creating favorable conditions for the successful implementation of research projects and the enhancement of scientific potential. We focus on ensuring that the University’s research activities comply with current international standards and the legislative requirements of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Goals and Objectives of the Department

The primary goal of the Department is to manage and systematize the University’s scientific information and to support staff in promoting their research achievements and publication activity.

Key objectives of the Department include:

  • Coordination of information support for the University’s research activities, including participation in competitive calls and the implementation of grant-funded research projects.
  • Organization and administration of internal university research project competitions aimed at supporting research activities of academic staff.
  • Financing research projects through university grant programs, including support for faculty and staff research initiatives, as well as small research grants focused on addressing specific scientific challenges.

Main Functions of the Department

  1. Research Support and Coordination
    The Department provides comprehensive support for scientific research, facilitates the identification of promising research areas, and supports research projects throughout all stages of implementation.
  2. Monitoring of Scientific Publications and Innovation Activities
    We monitor scientific publications, research reports, and innovative developments, and study national and international research trends to strengthen the University’s position in the global scientific community.
  3. Preparation of Information and Review Materials
    The Department prepares informational and review materials for University management, governmental bodies, and the scientific community, aimed at improving research efficiency and enhancing the University’s academic reputation.
  4. Participation in Strategic Development of Research
    The Scientific Department actively participates in shaping strategic directions for the development of the University’s research activities and supports the identification of priority research areas.
  5. Evaluation of Research Performance
    We assess the University’s research performance based on key indicators, including publication output, patent activity, participation in scientific events, and the implementation of research projects.
  6. Information and Organizational Support of Research Projects
    The Department ensures the collection, systematization, and dissemination of scientific information, and provides support to academic staff in preparing research proposals and participating in grant and competitive funding programs.

Regulatory legal acts

The university's scientific research activities, as indicated, are carried out in accordance with a number of legal acts. Specifically, these include:

  1. The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Science" (November 18, 2011, No. 407-IV) — regulates the organization of scientific activities, the establishment of standards and principles in the field of science and innovation, as well as intergovernmental and international scientific relations.
  2. The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Education" (July 27, 2007, No. 319-III) — covers issues of educational activities in the country, including the role of scientific research in educational institutions, including universities, and the requirements for training specialists.
  3. Development Program of NAO "West Kazakhstan Marat Ospanov Medical University" for 2024-2028 — a document defining the goals and strategic directions for the university’s scientific and educational work in the coming years.

These documents form the foundation for the development of scientific research and education within the university, supporting them in accordance with the current legal requirements.

In accordance with Article 23 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Science," the University’s scientific activities were accredited by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan on September 16, 2024, as a subject of scientific and scientific-technical activities (certificate MК№000626).

All research is conducted in three scientific areas:

  • Research in clinical medicine;
  • Research in theoretical and experimental medicine;
  • Research on psychological-pedagogical and interdisciplinary issues of social sciences.

The University actively collaborates with research institutes and centers, as well as educational and medical institutions in Kazakhstan and abroad.
