The university's scientific research activities, as indicated, are carried out in accordance with a number of legal acts. Specifically, these include:
- The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Science" (November 18, 2011, No. 407-IV) — regulates the organization of scientific activities, the establishment of standards and principles in the field of science and innovation, as well as intergovernmental and international scientific relations.
- The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Education" (July 27, 2007, No. 319-III) — covers issues of educational activities in the country, including the role of scientific research in educational institutions, including universities, and the requirements for training specialists.
- Development Program of NAO "West Kazakhstan Marat Ospanov Medical University" for 2024-2028 — a document defining the goals and strategic directions for the university’s scientific and educational work in the coming years.
These documents form the foundation for the development of scientific research and education within the university, supporting them in accordance with the current legal requirements.
In accordance with Article 23 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Science," the University’s scientific activities were accredited by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan on September 16, 2024, as a subject of scientific and scientific-technical activities (certificate MК№000626).
All research is conducted in three scientific areas:
- Research in clinical medicine;
- Research in theoretical and experimental medicine;
- Research on psychological-pedagogical and interdisciplinary issues of social sciences.
The University actively collaborates with research institutes and centers, as well as educational and medical institutions in Kazakhstan and abroad.
